Vinay Orekondy understands that 50% of young people identify as independent voters, yet they cannot vote in the elections that matter. He sees this as a crisis.
"This is a crisis, and it's a crisis that needs to be resolved urgently. Opening primaries up to independents is the way to do that. If we don't do that now, we'll simply have very small - even smaller - portions of the population controlling outcomes of elections and who governs us."
